Each entry allows a stay of up to 3 months. The visa itself lasts 12 months, so several visits of up to 3 months each are possible.
Conditions attached to the stay

- Study or training limited to 3 months
- Business visitor activities — meetings, negotiations, conferences — are allowed
Leaving and returning
Leaving Australia and returning starts a new period of up to 3 months. Doing this repeatedly to live in Australia in effect is visible to the Australian Border Force and can lead to questions or refusal of entry.
The eVisitor cannot be extended from inside Australia. Staying longer requires a different visa, generally applied for from outside the country.

FAQ
Short answers to the questions travellers ask most about Australia's free visitor visa.
Three months per visit
The eVisitor lasts twelve months, but each visit is capped at three months. The two numbers are separate, and mixing them up is the most common planning error.
Leaving and returning
Each entry restarts the three-month clock, but back-to-back visits attract questions, and the border officer can refuse entry.
At the border
Immigration, customs and biosecurity are three separate checks with different questions. Knowing which is which makes the queue much shorter.
Biosecurity
Undeclared biosecurity goods can bring a fine of up to twelve penalty units — and for visa holders, cancellation and a three-year exclusion.
